I released The Deal with Harlequin in 2013 and it's been a surprise hit. They've asked for a sequel and I'm thrilled with the idea of doing more in the series. You don't need me to tell you that publishing is changing; what you may not know is how much it's changing, and what that means for authors, like myself, who want to stay independent or at least maintain control over our careers. We're entering an era where publishers are folding one by one, while Amazon becomes ever-more powerful. As traditional publishers go down, there are newcomers popping up all over the place, introducing new formats and opportunities for writers to take charge of their own destinies. The protagonists in The Deal series are truly independent. They're successful enough to be able to pick and choose their clients, their jobs and even the people they love. This has been a goal for me as an author – to remain independent, or at least give it my all – and now we'll see if we can make it work. I started out as a self-publisher and I know there is a lot of debate about whether this is an option for authors nowadays. I can only say that I've found great success as a hybrid author (meaning I publish with both big publishing houses and self-publish) using Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). However, I am also looking to continue to go the traditional publishing route, and I've spoken with some wonderful imprints (who will remain nameless), but I'm not afraid of inviting competition. The best way for me to compete is to work with other authors through my e-books. The Deal series has been an incredible journey; more powerful than any other novel I've written, it has given me the tools and inspiration to write future books that are more personal and complex. And that's what I want, something better than what anyone can give me ... so I'm reaching out. I'm looking for a great new agent to take us into the future. I've been with my current agent for nearly two years, and she's been absolutely fantastic. All of these tools have been made available to me through her, and it would be a shame not to pass them along in a way that she can continue to grow with. I'd like someone who knows how to keep me focused in the long-term, someone who will work with us both to make The Deal successful across the globe. The deal starts at $30k but I know there are authors out there who can tell the tale in a way that will be well worth that investment. I believe that my story is unique, and I'd like to work with an editor who can bring out the best in it. Then I'll be all yours. What's in it for you? I don't know your circumstances, so I can't tell you exactly what you can expect. But I do know how important my story is to me, and the more motivated, talented and enthusiastic people we can find, the better they will help us move forward. My goal is to stay independent – mostly self-publishing then working with traditional publishers if that's what they want – but my heart is committed to working with great editors who will help guide The Deal into new light. cfa1e77820
